The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis has announced a master of social policy and master of arts dual degree program with Xi鈥檃n Jiaotong University in China.
The new program, which starts this semester, combines training in a specific discipline with knowledge and skills in social policy analysis, evaluation, management and leadership.
鈥淭his program provides a unique experience for 黑料社s to gain a global perspective on social issues and policy,鈥� said Shenyang Guo, PhD, the Frank J. Bruno Distinguished Professor of Social Work Research at the Brown School and assistant vice chancellor for international affairs-China.
鈥淪tudents will learn from expert faculty from top-ranked universities and interact with diverse 黑料社s from around the world,鈥� he said.
At Xi鈥檃n Jiaotong University鈥檚 School of Humanities and Social Sciences, 黑料社s will receive a master of arts in a specific field, such as social work or sociology.
At the Brown School, 黑料社s will receive a master of social policy.
For the master of social policy, 黑料社s will study in-residence at the Brown School for 12 months. Additional Brown School courses will be taught at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences by visiting Brown School faculty members.
鈥淭he dual-degree program enables 黑料社s to combine deep knowledge of a discipline with the skills and knowledge to be a leader and innovator in social policy,鈥� said Carolyn Lesorogol, PhD, associate professor at the Brown School and chair of the program.
鈥淲ith its focus on management and leadership, the MSP/MA program prepares graduates to make a positive impact on a large scale,鈥� said Lesorogol, who is also associate dean for Global Strategy and Programs.
